Educated in the Mid-Hudson Valley, Danielle Van Houten is currently hailed as one of the area’s hippest, innovative, and gifted minds around. As a photographer, clothing designer and businesswoman, her popularity with fellow designers and fashion editors stems from her pure professionalism.
This award-winning conceptual photographer has been published in many magazines such as: Focus New York, Reality Serum Magazine, and Alternative Revolution Magazine. Those in the industry are beginning to take notice of her budding career. Her style is filled with fantasy, passion, and excitement.
As a teenager, Van Houten always wanted to capture every moment with her friends. She always believed in photography, and with her first paycheck she bought her first camera, a used “brownie” for $20-and never looked back!
At her core, Van Houten is an artist. She says, “I don’t really consider myself as a photographer. I am more like an artist in love with the creative process.” She has worked with clients on a national level. Van Houten has a keen eye for new talent, and has shot models featured on campaigns such as: TLC's What Not to Wear, West Point Military Academy, and Against All Odds urban clothing apparel.
Van Houten is the founder of a portfolio building group called the Hudson Valley Creatives (www.hvcreatives.com) made up of local models, hair and make-up artists, designers, photographers, and actors.
In 2013, a variety of her work was displayed in the vestibule of the Minneapolis Convention Center. She currently has pieces on display at Teran Studios (www.willteran.com) in Newburgh, NY. Van Houten has also sold her work to private collectors throughout the country.
